Product review: Arena Trax swim paddles

Arena Trax swim paddles

This month I have had a look at the Arena Trax swim paddles. These swim paddles have been in my training bag for a while now. I have always thought I should try them, and now I finally have.  I have to say I don’t mind them at all. The Trax paddles are a slightly oversized paddle using silicone piping used to feed your fingers through. Plus on the underside of the panels, there are little ridges that help you to grab the water. I found this very helpful in the catch phase of my stroke.
Pretty basic, right? Yep, they are. But they work.

Some paddles I have used in the past have been a little short. My fingertips hang over the edge of them and they seem to make me want to reach around the paddle with my fingertips. Instead of sitting my hand flat on them.  It’s great how these Arena swim paddles sit in my hand and especially in my catch phase of the stroke. I seem to get a nice smooth catch as well as good acceleration at the back of the stroke. I actually like that these paddles have a curve at the back end of them which helps with wrist flexibility and movement. These paddles also allow your hand to move freely without getting  paddle getting in the way

Good Quality and Value for the Arena Trax swim paddles

These Trax paddles a pretty good value for money, they range anywhere between $12 to $24 online. A few other paddles that I’ve used before had silicone straps that seem to break really easily. These paddles, however, are very sturdy and don’t seem to have a whole lot of potential to break.

Another really good feature of these Arena swim paddles is that there aren’t holes everywhere. So it doesn’t give you that complex variation of having different strap hole positions going every which way. Arena has kept things simple and easy to use. Which is always handy especially when you’ve got kids using them. The Trax paddles can be put on and taken off relatively quickly, this means that there are fewer interruptions. So in training with kids having to put them on and take them off it can take less time.

If you’re looking for a cheap good quality paddle then these will be the way to go. They don’t break the budget and they seem very sturdy. If looked after properly they should last a long time in your training bag.
